PLAYWRIGHTSShort Forms - A Call For Submissions! For the last three years, Region II has been promoting Short Forms to give voice to writers working outside the playwright's tradition. Over time Short Forms has grown from a few skits and monologues, performed by a rag-tag group of actors working on the fly to small groups of writers and performers bringing more polished pieces to Festival. This year another call goes out: Bring a Short Form piece to Poughkeepsie! In last year's show, cabaret, sketch comedy, storytelling, and stand-up were presented by acting troupes and solo performers from as far east as Adelphi University, as far west as Washington & Jefferson College, and as far south as the U.S. Naval Academy. Much of the Region was represented and represented well. Again this year Short Forms will be an integral part of Fringe. Submit an idea in written form - a cabaret piece, a sketch, a rant, an original monologue, a stand-up comedy routine, a song and dance act, juggling, magic, you name it - to Mr. Scott Frank at sfrank@washjeff.edu. Pieces should run no longer than eight minutes and require little or no technical support. If accepted, your work will be further developed at Festival and be presented in an evening of performances as a part of Fringe. I look forward to seeing your material and working on it with you. Scott Frank
